Omori Ippei doesn’t like families, including his own family and children. He worked as a reporter for a TV station. Due to his old-fashioned mindset, he caused a scandal at work and was forced to quit his job. He now moves into the home that his father, whom he hated, left behind. He calls himself a freelance journalist, but he is actually unemployed.
One day, he talks to Kohara Sosuke, who was his late younger sister’s husband. As a widower and a single father, Sosuke raises his two children by himself. Ippei tells Sosuke to bring his 2 children and move into his home. They all start living together. Even though Ippei doesn’t like families and children, he works hard at doing house chores and helps take care of the two kids.
Behind Ippei Omori’s unexpected actions, he has an ulterior motive for his change in behavior. To get back on his feet, he decided to become a politician and run for the upcoming ward assembly election. To win the election, he needs a good image and having a family in his home helps with that. By interacting with Sosuke and his two children, Ippei begins to face various issues involving the family and social problems. This changes his outlook on life gradually.
