Usami Seiji is the chief instructor of the rescue training unit that trains rescuers belonging to the Air Self-Defense Force Aviation Rescue Wing, commonly known as PJs (pararescue jumpers). PJs are a select group of elite members who are the “last line of defense for saving lives,” and are the “ultimate rescue unit,” so to speak, that carries out rescue operations in particularly harsh conditions such as accidents and disasters.
The story follows Usami, the head instructor who hides his intense passion and trains the trainees through unconventional training, and the trainees who have passed the extremely difficult selection test to become project members. This is the hottest story this spring, depicting them facing a year of “hellish” training.
